Subject: Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Accept a Donation From The Trust for Public
Land in the form of a Mosaic Art Bench Sculpture as part of the Miami River Art Project.
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept the donation of a mosaic art bench sculpture
designed by artist Carlos Alves, valued at an estimated $80,000, to be constructed and provided by
The Trust for Public Land (TPL) for installation along Miami River Drive at N.W. 2 Street as part of
the overall Miami River Art Project designed to bring children together from the various communities
in Miami. This resolution further authorizes the City Manager to execute all the necessary documents
to make this possible.
Background Information:
The Department of Parks and Recreation recommends that the City of Miami Commission approve
the attached Resolution accepting the donation of the mosaic art bench from TPL for installation
along Miami River Drive and N.W. 2nd Street as part of the Miami River Art Project, essentially a
beautification and community change project that will benefit the City.
