Thompson References: March 11, 2010 Agenda City Clerk Enclosures: List of Members The Mayor's International Council was created to (1) plan and implement the City's International Trade promotion policies for the purposes of stimulating commercial and residential development and expanding the City's tax base through the promotion of foreign trade and local investment in accordance with the bylaws adopted by the Council; (2) serve in an advisory capacity for the City of Miami Sister Cities Program to plan, implement, and oversee the City's international, professional, and technical educational and cultural exchanges, promotion and policies to create and stimulate friendly and meaningful relationships; and (3) coordinate protocol requirements for national and international events and dignitaries pursuant to the standard and practices adopted by the Council. Four (4) appointments are required at this time:* • Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort has one (1) appointment for a seat currently held by: 1. Ruben Valdes, incumbent, whose term expires on June 10, 2013. • Commissioner Francis Suarez has one (1) appointment for a seat currently held by: 1. Vacancy (since 12/11/2009, previously held by Marianne Salazar). • Commissioner Richard Dunn II has one (1) appointment for a seat currently held by: 1. Najib Tayara, incumbent, whose term expires on May 13, 2013. • Commission -AT -Large has two (2) appointments for seats currently held by: 1. Vacancy (since 12/11/2009, previously held by Julian Linares). For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership list of the council. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the March 11, 2010 Commission agenda. PAT c: Gail A.
