The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The board also
reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of
Employee Relations.
Eight (8) appointments are required at this time:
• Chair Marc David Sarnoff has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Luis Meurice, incumbent, whose term expires April 1, 2010, has exceeded the number
of allowed absences (5 absences in 2009), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of
attendance.*
2. Pedro Villa, incumbent, whose term expires March 11, 2010.
• Vice Chairman Frank Carollo has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:*
1. Rebeca Alvarez -Mena, incumbent, whose term expired July 12, 2007, has exceeded the
number of allowed absences (8 absences in 2007), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of
attendance.
2. Vacancy since 12/16/2008 (seat formerly held by Sam Mason).
• Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort has one (1) nomination for seat currently held by:t
1. Vacancy since 7/9/2008.
• Commissioner Francis Suarez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:t
1. Aurelus Dorvil, incumbent, whose term expires May 13, 2010.
2. Sereda White, incumbent, whose term expired on January 14, 2010.
• Commissioner Richard Dunn II has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:t
1. Vacancy, seat previously held by Anthony Cutler.
Note: Miriam Urra, incumbent, who was appointed by Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort on
February 11, 2010, would require a 5/5ths term waiver as she had been serving the board since 2001.

For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this
memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the March 11, 2010
Commission agenda.
