A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
APPROVING THE TOTAL ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CIVILIAN INVESTIGATIVE
PANEL, IN THE AMOUNT OF $464,000, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2009 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER
30, 2010.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") provides independent citizens'
oversight over the sworn police department with authority to conduct investigations related to
allegations of police misconduct, review policies of the Department of Police and is empowered to
issue subpoenas for police misconduct investigations; and
WHEREAS, Section 11.5-10 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, requires that
a budget, pertaining to the management, operations, maintenance and capital expenditures for the
CIP, be approved by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the CIP having reviewed its previously submitted budget proposal, hereby submits a
revised line item budget in the amount of $464,000 for Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2009, and
ending September 30, 2010;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated
as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The total annual budget for the CIP, in the amount of $464,000, as attached and
incorporated, for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2009 and ending September 30, 2010, is
approved.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the
Mayor. {1 }

{1 } If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
