Purpose of Item:
To authorize payment compensation to special counsel for the Nuisance Abatement Board, including
any required related litigation services in an amount not to exceed $7,000.00.
Background Information:
The Department of Hearing Boards respectfully requests Nuisance Abatement Board (NAB) special
counsel services for FY 2009-2010, in an amount not to exceed $7,000.00. Special counsel, as legal
advisor to the NAB, is required because the City Attorney cannot represent and prosecute code
violation cases heard by the NAB. Compensation is payable as earned during the period of such
counsel's employment. Services provided by special counsel shall include any related litigation
services required by the NAB.
