Thompson References: September 10, 2009 Agenda City Clerk Enclosures: List of members The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Three (3) appointments are needed at this time: • Vice Chair Spence -Jones has one (1) nomination: 1. Vacancy (seat formerly held by Leroy Jones, incumbent, who was no longer eligible to serve per legal opinion as he was not a City resident). • Commissioner Gonzalez has one (1) nomination: 1. Tatiana Gort, incumbent, whose term expires on February 11, 2012, has exceeded the number of allowed absences (8 in 2009) and would require a 4/5ths waiver of attendance. • The Commission -at -Large has one (1) nomination: 1. Vacancy (Alternate -at -Large Harry Gottlieb was appointed as a regular member on May 14, 2009). * For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the September 10, 2009 Commission agenda. *This matter was deferred from the June 11, 2009 Commission meeting.
