City P Page 1 of 1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information: Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0296, adopted June 18, 2009, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds to the City of Miami Department of Community Development for public service activities to provide elderly services. Said agencies are non-profit corporations that provide elderly service activities to low to moderate income individuals and families. Pursuant to 24 CFR 570.201(e), the City can use up to 15% of previous year CDBG program income for public service activities. The City recognizes the enormous pressure on public service agencies serving the elderly due to the current economic downturn. The Administration recommends the transfer of CDBG funds in the amount of $50,000, from the City of Miami Department of Community Development Program Income and allocating said funds to the agencies specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, for public service activities to provide elderly services.
