Subject: Amendment to Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program 2008 & Memoranda of
Agreements
Purpose of Item:
Resolution to amend Resolution 09-0413, adopted 9/10/09, to add to said resolution a Memorandum
of Agreement for participating Miami UASI Grant 2008 Agency, entitled: "Palm Beach County
Sheriffs Office" which was inadvertently omitted from the above mentioned. There is no fiscal
impact as the Grant funds were previously appropriated by means of the aforementioned Resolution
adopted 9/10/09.

Background Information: (continued)
On September 10, 2009, pursuant to Resolution 09-0413, the City Commission authorized the City
Manager to execute Memoranda of Agreements for participating Miami Urban Area Security
Initiative ("UASI") Grant 2008 Agencies in connection with the support of the UASI Program 2008
administered by the City of Miami Department of Fire -Rescue.
Resolution 09-0413 is being amended to add a Memorandum of Agreement for participating agency
entitled: "Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office" inadvertently omitted, which establishes said agency
as a participating UASI agency.
These Grant funds were previously appropriated by Resolution 09-0413, for the purchase of
specialized equipment, exercise, training, administrative services and development of the Urban Area
Homeland Security Strategy and other planning activities needed to ensure a successful program.
The City Commission authorizes the City Manager to amend and execute a Memorandum of
Agreement to include "Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office", setting forth the parties' responsibilities
in connection with the support of the UASI Program 2008 which is administered by the City of Miami
Department of Fire -Rescue.
