A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI DOWN -TOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ("DDA") OF -I'HE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA REAFFIRMINGTHE DDAS SLJPPORT OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S PROPOSED NEW ZONING CODE ENTITLED "MIAMI 21." WHEREAS, The City of Miami is considering the adoption of a new Zoning Code entitled "Miami 21" to replace its currentZoning Code, City of Miami Ordinance No. 11000; and WHEREAS, "Miami 21" seeks to provide a holistic approach to land use and urban planning with a clear vision for the City that will be supported by specific guidelines and regulations so that future generations will reap the benefit-, of well-balanced neighborhoods and a rich quality of life; and WHEREAS, "Miami 21" will,have a direct and significant impact on properties and land use within .Downtown Miami, and WHEREAS, on March 20, 2009, the DDA Board of Directors approved Resolution No. 20/2009 in support of Miami 21 with eleven (1 l) conditions that requested various revisions to Miami 21; and WHEREAS, on September 4, 2009, the Miami City Commission voted to approve Miami 21 on First Reading, with amendments that included several of the RDA's proposed revisions; and WIJE�REAS, the DDA Board of Directors finds that the bulk of its conditions were adequately addressed in the City's First Reading approval of Miami 21. NOW.. THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami, Florida Section 1. The recitals are true and correct and are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. MIAMI, FLORIDA REQUESTING; THAT THE CITY OF MIAMI RE-STLJDY THE ASSIGNED T6-36 ZONING DESIGNATION iN "MIAMI 21" FOR THE ENTIRE BRICKEI.,L. DISTRICT, AND CONSIDER THE ASSIGNMENT OF A MORE, INTENSE ZONING DESIGNATION, SUCH AS T6-48 -OR T6-60, THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR GREATER PERMITTED HEIGHT IN BRICKF..LL; CONSISTENT WiTH THE AREA'S EXISTING CHARACTER.' WHEREAS, The City of Miami is considering the adoption of a new "Zoning Code entitled "Miami 21" to replace its current "Zoning Code, City of Miami Ordinance No. 1 1000; and WHEREAS, "Miami 21" seeks to provide a holistic approach to land use and urban planning with a clear vision for the City that will be supported by specific guidelines and regulations so that future generations will reap the benefits of well-balanced neighborhoods and a rich quality of life; and WHEREAS, "Miami 21" includes a new and reconfigured Zoning Atlas and corresponding zoning standards that assign and govern zoning for all properties in the City, as partially provided in Exhibit A attached hereto; and WHEREAS, on September 4, 2009, the Miami City Commission voted to approve "Miami 21" on First Reading; and 1\ WHEREAS, as part of First Reading approval, the City Commission directed City staff to re- study the assigned T6-36 zoning designation for the Brickell Village District -- bounded generally by the Metrorail corridor to the west, S. Miami Avenue to the east, Miarni River to the north, and SE 15 Road to the south — and consider the assignment of a T6-48 designation for the area; and WHEREAS, at its meeting of September 18, 2009, the DDA Board of Directors requested that the City consider a more intense zoning designation, such as T6-60, for the area as part of its study, and that the boundaries of the study be expanded to include the entirety of Brickell, includirig the area between S. Miami Avenue and Biscayne Bay, NOW, THEREFORE; be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Miami. Downtown, Development Authority of the City of Miami, Florida. Section I., The recitals are true and correct and are adopted by-refcrence-and incorporated -as if fully set forth'in this Section.:.
