PO Box 380204 Miami, FL 33238 Upper Elide Miami Council, Inc. RESOLUTION 2007 6-25 of the Upper Eastside Miami Council ENDORSING Miami 21 and the ongoing process. WHEREAS, We believe that going forward with the Miami 21 process is critical to the future of the entire city, and that we in the Upper Eastside have actively been involved and have attended many or most of the 60 public meetings, since we are a large portion of the first quadrant. Our input has been taken seriously by staff and the consultants, and has been incorporated in most, if not all, cases. WHEREAS, We see Miami 21 as a "work in progress" and thoroughly believe that when the last quadrant is complete and input has been received from the citizens in the remaining quadrants, the City will have a zoning code of which we can all be proud. We believe that Miami 21 will lead to better design and development. We also understand it will be amended and improved as the process continues, much as it has thus far. It is a much better product than it was in its initial stages of design. WHEREAS, We believe that with the built-in review process, there will be fairness for all segments of the community in the long run. Protecting our residential neighborhoods is paramount, and that has been balanced with protection of our neighborhood businesses. Some in the community want more height, some less, some more density, some less. Some want no change at all. That's all part of the ongoing process. THEREFORE, We enthusiastically encourage the Commission to vote Miami 21 forward so it can continue to be improved. We believe Miami 21 will be a solid and improved version of our zoning, and history will show that its supporters were on the right side.
