HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution File Number: 09-01101 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "SOUTH FLORIDA HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA ("HIDTA") VIOLENT CRIMES AND DRUG TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION" INITIATIVE AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000, FROM SOUTH FLORIDA HIDTA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE AWARD LETTER, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the Department of Police will implement strategies in support of investigative efforts to dismantle or disrupt criminal organizations afflicting the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Violent Crimes and Drug Trafficking Organization has approved an award in the amount of $30,000, to be used to reduce or eliminate factors leading to drug trafficking and violent crimes; and WHEREAS, this award is specifically for reimbursement of overtime incurred by law enforcement officers participating in the investigative efforts pertaining to "Operation Guess Who's Back" during a twelve-month period that commenced July 21, 2009; and WHEREAS, no matching funds required from the City as a condition of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Violent Crimes and Drug Trafficking Organization Initiative RESOURCES: South Florida HIDTA $30,000 APPROPRIATION: Reimbursement of overtime incurred for the $30,000 South Florida HIDTA Violent Crimes and Drug City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 10/9/2009 File Number.' 09-01101 Trafficking Organization "Operation Guess Who's Back" Initiative Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to designate the Chief of Police to execute the necessary documents to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. The Department of Police is authorized to expend monies from this Special Revenue Project for the reimbursement of overtime incurred for said initiative. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE O. BRU 6 } CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
