HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationFile Number: 09-01050 City Hall City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Le islation Miami, FL 33133 g www.miamigov.com Resolution Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, BY A FOUR-FIFTHS (4/5THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, GRANTING AN INCREASED NUMBER OF CLASS I SPECIAL PERMITS (BEYOND THE TWO (2) SPECIAL EVENTS ALLOWED PER YEAR), FOR THE MARY BRICKELL VILLAGE RETAIL SPECIALTY CENTER, LOCATED AT 900 AND 901 SOUTH MIAMI AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; SPECIFICALLY TO ALLOW TWENTY FIVE (25) BANNERS TO BE ACCOMMODATED AT THE MARY BRICKELL VILLAGE RETAIL SPECIALTY CENTER FOR AN ADDITIONAL EVENT RELATED TO PROMOTING THE BRICKELL VILLAGE AREA FOR A PERIOD OF SIX (6) MONTHS COMMENCING ON OCTOBER 21, 2009 THROUGH APRIL 21, 2010. WHEREAS, the applicable provisions of §906.9 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("Zoning Code"), provide, in part, that (unless approved by a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the City Commission waiving this requirement) no more than a total of two (2) temporary events on private property per year, per site, may occur and further that the City Commission may approve not more than a total of four (4) temporary events per site on private property per year, by a four-fifths (4/5ths) vote or a single event for a duration of more than two (2) weeks; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is committed to promoting specialty center areas within the Downtown area of the City; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, an increased number of Class I Special Permits (beyond the two (2) special events allowed per year), is granted for the Mary Brickell Village Retail Specialty Center, located at 900 and 901 South Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida, specifically to allow twenty five (25) banners to be accommodated at the Mary Brickell Village Retail Specialty center, for an additional event related to promoting the Brickell Village area for a period of six (6) months commencing on October 21, 2009 through April 21, 2010, with such Class I being subject to review and approval by the Zoning Administrator as set forth in Articles 13 and 14 of the Zoning Code. Section 3.
