Thompson, CM City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE: August 26, 2009 FELE SUBJECT REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Request to Use Gry Hall For Early Voting Site — 2009 Elections The Office of the City Clerk is requesting consideration for early voting for the general municipal election scheduled for November 3, 2009. Florida Statute §101.657(e) enables municipalities to provide early voting in municipal elections that are not held in conjunction with county or state elections. A municipality may designate as many sites as necessary and shall conduct its activities providing that: • Electors are allowed to vote early in main or branch offices of the supervisor of elections, public libraries and/or city halls; • The supervisor shall designate each early voting site by no later than the 30th day prior to an election and shall designate an early voting area at each early voting site; and • AR early voting sites shall be open on the same days for the same amount of time and shall allow any person in line at the closing of an early voting site to vote. The Office of the Gry Clerk in coordination with the Miami -Dade County Elections Department has selected the following five (5) locations to utilize as early voting sites for the upcoming election(s). The sites are proposed, to be opened 'for 1 week only from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M weekdays from October 26 to October 30 and frbin-9:00 A -M. to 1:00 P.M on Saturday, October 31 and -Sunday, November 1. We will not be scheduling early voting for a runoff election.
