HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2File Number: 09-00441 Enactment Number: R-09-0217 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") AMENDED ANNUAL ACTION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009, CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE CITY'S AMENDED ANNUAL ACTION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009, CITY'S DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0374, adopted June 10, 2004, the City Commission approved the City of Miami's ("City") Consolidated Plan for Fiscal Years 2004-2009; and WHEREAS, per the Code of Federal Regulations 24 CFR 91.220, all entitlement jurisdictions are required to submit an Annual Action Plan to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD") for the purpose of carrying out its long term strategic plan; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 08-0442, adopted July 24, 2008, the City Commission approved the City's Annual Action Plan for the Fiscal Year 2008-2009, City's Department of Community Development ("Annual Action Plan"); and WHEREAS, the Annual Action Plan set forth the overall goals and objectives of the City's Consolidated Plan; and WHEREAS, on March 6, 2009, the City was awarded funds in the amount of $3,392,918 for the implementation of the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re -Housing Program ("HPRP"); and WHEREAS, U.S. HUD has mandated that all interested recipients submit an amended action plan for the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 to receive the funds; and WHEREAS, the Annual Action Plan has been amended to include the HPRP, which will provide financial assistance and relocation/stabilization services to households facing financial difficulties in order to prevent homelessness; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City's Amended Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2008-2009, City's Department of Community Development, attached and incorporated, is approved. Section 3.
