A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING FUNDS, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $3,392,918, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR THE
HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE -HOUSING PROGRAM
THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, IN ORDER
TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, on February 17, 2009, the President of the United States signed the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which includes the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid
Re -Housing Program ("HPRP"); and
WHEREAS, the HPRP provides financial assistance and relocation/stabilization services to
households facing financial difficulties in order to prevent homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("U.S. HUD")
has advised the City of Miami that a grant in the amount of $3,392,918 has been awarded through the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for the implementation of HPRP; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the acceptance of a grant from U.S. HUD through
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in the amount of $3,392,918 for the
implementation of the HPRP;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Funds in the amount of $3,392,918, consisting of a grant from U.S. HUD, for the
HPRP through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, are accepted.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance of said grant.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including, but not limited, to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
