AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND RAPID -RE -HOUSING
PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,392,918; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS AS SPECIFIED
IN EXHIBIT W, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, FOR HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID
RE -HOUSING SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE.

On February 17, 2009, the President of the United States signed the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 which included an allocation for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid
Re -Housing Program ("HPRP").
The HPRP is designed to provide financial assistance and services to either prevent individuals and
families from becoming homeless or help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-
housed and stabilized.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0215, adopted on May 14, 2009, the Miami City Commission
approved the acceptance of HPRP funds in the amount of $3,392,918 from the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD").
Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0217, adopted on May 14, 2009, the Miami City Commission
approved a substantial amendment to the City's Annual Action Plan which included an allocation of
$3,392,918 for homeless prevention and rapid re -housing for financial assistance and services.
The Administration recommends the transfer of HPRP funds in the amount of $3,392,918, and
allocating said funds as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, for homeless prevention
and rapid re -housing services.
