HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislation} City of Miami Legislation Resolution File Number: 09-00922 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET OF THE MIAMI SPORTS AND EXHIBITION AUTHORITY ("MSEA"), ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, IN THE AMOUNT OF $112,000, TO PROVIDE FOR THE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE OF MSEA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2009, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2010. WHEREAS, the Miami Sports & Exhibition Authority ("MSEA") was established in 1983 pursuant to Florida Statute 212.057, as an independent and autonomous agency and instrumentality of the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, currently MSEA is being managed by the Bayfront Park Management Trust; and WHEREAS, MSEA was created to promote sports, conventions and exhibitions and to strive to generate community support to achieve this purpose; and WHEREAS, MSEA was further given the authority to exercise any power usually possessed by private corporations performing similar functions that are not in conflict with the Florida constitution or law; and WHEREAS, Section 2-1020 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, provides that the Miami Sports & Exhibition Authority ("MSEA"), shall submit its annual budget for the operations and maintenance of the Authority, to the City Commission for approval; and WHEREAS, the budget for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 for MSEA has been reviewed and approved by the MSEA Board of Directors on April 23, 2009; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The annual budget of MSEA, attached and incorporated, in the amount of $112,000, to provide for its operations and maintenance, for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2009, and ending September 30, 2010, is approved and adopted. Section 3.
