Information: The City of Miami submitted a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs to hire additional police civilian support personnel and purchase laptop computers to ensure that sworn law enforcement officers are more available on the street in an effort to reduce and prevent crime. The job creation and equipment purchases will assist in providing more officer accessibility and protection to the community. This grant is awarded for a period of four years, beginning March 1, 2009, through February 28, 2013. This award does not require any local match.
