ENCLOSURES:
As per Federal Government regulations, please be informed that the City of Miami Police
Department (MPD) intends to submit an application for the $2,562,410,00 allocated under the
Recovery Act: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Program: Local
Solicitation, announced by the US Department of Justice. Attached is a memorandum, for your
signature, notifying the Mayor and• Commissioners of the before mentioned application, Please
note that this notification must take place ; not. fewer than 30 days before the application is
submitted to the Bureau of Justice Assistance on May 10, 2009.
The grant funding will be used over a two year period for the following eligible purposes: to hire
law enforcement support personnel; provide police officers with computers; and furnish our new
training facility with equipment. ;; .. l?;l
As required by the grant guidelines-th6"Gommunity :I:been provided an opportunity to comment
on this grant via an announcement that has been posted on the Miami Police Department's official
website. This notification will remain at least until the submission date,
