Pursuant to Item No. 3 of the attached Spoil Management Plan approval, DERM requires a truck wheel
wash station to be configured into the design prior to the trucks exiting the staging area. The dredged
material to be removed from the canal was deemed contaminated by DERM. The truck wash station is
required to be self-contained to prevent cross -contamination to areas adjacent to the staging area. Prior
to construction, the unit was inspected by DERM and was determined to be in compliance with the
conditions stipulated in DERM's approved Spoil Management Plan.
The truck wash station consists of an optimum water treatment system with an integrated recycling
tank with automatic sludge evacuation. As trucks passes through the washing unit, water is sprayed
under the truck's chassis to loosen soil material from the truck. The contaminated soils are collected and
deposited into 55 -gallon drums containers slated for disposal.
