The CDBG-R is designed to stimulate the economy through measures that modernize the Nation's infrastructure, improve energy efficiency and conservation through rehabilitation or retrofitting of existing buildings, and expand educational opportunities and access to health care. Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0261, adopted on May 28, 2009, the Miami City Commission approved the acceptance of CDBG-R funds in the amount of $2,218,946 from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"). Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0262, adopted on May 28, 2009, the Miami City Commission approved a substantial amendment to the City's Annual Action Plan which included an allocation of $1,597,641 for street improvement. CIP is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all construction related capital projects in the City of Miami, and for the financial management of all capital funds. The Administration recommends the transfer of CDBG-R funds in the amount of $1,597,641 and allocating said funds to CIP for public facilities and improvement activities for the renovation of roadways in primarily residential low to moderate income areas of the City.
