Purpose of Item:
Resolution to authorize the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Agreement ("MOA") between',
the City of Miami and the City of Miramar anticipating sub -granting a portion of the UASI funds in
accordance with the grant requirements in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 for the purchase of a
web -based emergency system to be delivered throughout the region. The Project # for the UASI 2007
award is #18-180011. This agreement is good through April 30, 2010.

Background Information: (continued)
The United States Department of Homeland Security's Office passed through the Office of Grants and
Training, directly to the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, has sub -granted the
Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program 2007. This year the aforementioned program
includes the City of Miami and participating agency, the City of Miramar. The UASI 2007 Urban
Area anticipates sub -granting in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 for the purchase of a web -
based emergency management system to be delivered throughout the region.
These funds appropriated to the City of Miramar ensure regional interoperability between agencies
during a time, and in conjunction with, preparation for, or in an anticipation of, a major disaster or
emergency related to terrorism and or weapons of mass destruction.
Also, the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management ("DEM"), makes said grant effective
until April 30, 2010.
