HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationu : City of Miami ,r Legislation Resolution File Number: 09-00875 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT ("MOA"), IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND THE CITY OF MIRAMAR, A NEW MEMBER UNDER THE URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2007, TO SUB -GRANT A PORTION OF SAID UASI GRANT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, FOR THE PURCHASE OF A WEB -BASED EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO BE DELIVERED THROUGHOUT THE REGION, FOR THE PREPARATION FOR OR ANTICIPATION OF, A MAJOR DISASTER OR EMERGENCY RELATED TO TERRORISM AND/OR WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM PROJECT NO. 18 -180011 -5.01 -1564 -EQ U I PM ENT -181000. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security's Office, through the Office of Grants and Training, awarded grants directly to the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, and said office has sub -granted the funds to the Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program 2007; and WHEREAS, for Fiscal Year 2007 said UASI Grant Program includes the City of Miami ("City"), as a sponsoring agency and the City of Miramar, as a participating agency; and WHEREAS, the UASI 2007 Urban Area anticipates sub -granting funds in an amount not to exceed $200,000 for the purchase of a web -based emergency management system and delivered throughout the region; and WHEREAS, these funds allocated to the City of Miramar, ensure regional interoperability between agencies during a time, and in conjunction with, preparation for, or in anticipation of, a major disaster or emergency related to terrorism and/or weapons of mass destruction; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management, will make said grant effective until April 30, 2010; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to execute a Memorandum of Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the City and the City of Miramar, a new member under the UASI Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2007, to sub -grant a portion of said UASI Grant, for the purchase of a web -based emergency management system to be delivered throughout the region, for the preparation for or anticipation of, a major disaster or emergency related to terrorism and/or weapons of mass destruction, in an amount not to exceed $200,000, with funds allocated from Project No. 18- 180011 -5.01 -1564 -Equipment -181000. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE,Q-.1B RU CI ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
