Due to limited resources, Cycle I of Miami NICE did not fully meet the training potential written into the
grant. In order to better serve Miami NICE grantees, as well as the general nonprofit community, Cycle II
of Miaini NICE must expand the training component of the initiative.
Submitted trainings fulfill a capacity building need in order to increase skills and knowledge in one or more
of the five Miami NICE program areas. Additionally, each training is based on one or more needs that
Miami NICE consultants saw necessary after working with Cycle I grantees.

Each training proposal submitted meets at least one capacity building need necessary to guide Miami
NICE Grantees to formulate their capacity building project. They all teach technical skills essential to
Guide Grantees, as well as other nonprofits throughout Miami -Dade County, to strengthen organizations.
These traininas will give participants the ability to review and gain knowledge in all the areas of the
Mianu NICE Self -Assessment.
Some of the trainings provided are repetitive topics from consultants. This is because the request for
proposals was open to approximately 30 consultants from the consultant pool. Miami NICE consultants
each have his/her own way of teaching particular topics. It is recommended that training topics under the
same subject matter become a collaborative training, conducted by more than one trainer. This gives
participants an opportunity to learn from different learning styles, as well as numerous experts in the field.
Trainings can be set up in a panel model, providing each trainer with an opportunity to speak, then
grouping participants per trainer. This model provides Miami NICE Grantees, as well as other nonprofit
professionals attending, to have more individual attention to their organizational needs.
Miami NICE Grantee Follow -Up Costs:
Miami NICE Grantees have been provided an excellent opportunity to improve their organizational
capacity by working with Miami NICE Consultants. It was recommended by the Miami NICE Program
Committee, the Miami NICE external evaluator, as well as the Cycle I Miami NICE Consultants, that
follow-up is necessary post -project in order to truly evaluate the effectiveness of this initiative. The
additional costs are as follows:
Cycle I - $10,500
Cycle II - $9,000
Cycle III - $12,500
These numbers are based on 5 hours of follow-up per Grantee. Success Partners will receive $100/hr for
their services. Yr III is based on the assumption that there will be 25 grantees.
