A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING NO
OBJECTION AND SUPPORTING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY RESOLUTION NO.
1128-08, ADOPTED OCTOBER 21, 2008, URGING THE CITY OF MIAMI TO
CODESIGNATE NORTHWEST 15TH AVENUE FROM NORTHWEST 62ND
STREET TO NORTHWEST 71ST STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS 'REV. DR.
GILBERT S. SMITH AVENUE;" FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF
THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICES.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Miami -Dade County ("County") Resolution No. 1128-08, adopted
October 21, 2008, requesting an honorary designation of a road located within the City of Miami
("City"), the Miami City Commission has no objections and supports the proposed street codesignation
of Northwest 15th Avenue from Northwest 62nd Street to Northwest 71st Street, Miami, Florida, as
"Rev. Dr. Gilbert S. Smith Avenue;"
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the proposed street
codesignation of Northwest 15th Avenue from Northwest 62nd Street to Northwest 71st Street, Miami,
Florida, as "Rev. Dr. Gilbert S. Smith Avenue."
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy
of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, Solid Waste, the County Public Works
Department and the United States Postal Service.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
