HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-09-0284Vop City of Miami Legislation < U R �O Resolution: R-09-0284 File Number: 09-00657 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 6/11/2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 09-0249, ADOPTED MAY 28, 2009, IN ITS ENTIRETY AND ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "FISCAL YEAR 2009 -DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ("FEMA"), URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE ("USAR") READINESS COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,056,910, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM FEMA TO BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE TO ACQUIRE EQUIPMENT AND PROVIDE TRAINING IN APPROVED USAR TRAINING COURSES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $1,056,910, from The Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to grant stipulations, said funds will be used by the Department of Fire -Rescue for the acquisition of specialized equipment, provide training, management, and administration of the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Program; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 09-249, adopted May 28, 2009, provided for the City Manager to accept said grant in the amount of $1,001,910, $55,000 less than the amount actually received; and WHEREAS, since the City wishes to accept said grant, in the higher amount, it is appropriate to rescind Resolution No. 09-249, adopted May 28, 2009, in the amount of $1,001,910 and authorize the City Manager to accept said grant, in the higher amount of $1,056,910 and to establish a special revenue project for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
