Redevelopment Aencies for Renewal of the Police Visibility Pro gram
Purpose of Item:
The attached Resolution of the Miami City Commission authorizes 'the acceptance of a grant from the
Southeast Overtown/Park West and Omni Community Redevelopment Agencies, in an amount not to
exceed $344,000 for the extension of the Police Visibility Pilot Program in the CRA's. .
Background Information:
On April 28, 2008, the Board of the Southeast Overtown/Park West and Omni Community
Redevelopment Agencies ("CRA") awarded the City of Miami Police Department a grant in the
amount of $343,392 to underwrite a portion of the costs associated with the implementation of a
Police Visibility Pilot Program The Police Visibility Grant Program consists of enhanced police
services including, increased patrols, assistance to homeless in obtaining services from local agencies
and an increase in the number of special operations. On April 27, 2009, the CRA's Board authorized
a renewal of the grant in an amount not to exceed $344,000. City Commission approval is required
for the acceptance of any grant award exceeding .$25,000.
