On March 6, 2009, the United States Department of Housing And Urban Development ("HUD") informed the City of Miami that a grant in the amount of $2,218,946 in Community Development Block Grant — Recovery Act ("CDBG-R") funds has been awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The CDBG-R is designed to stimulate the economy through measures that modernize the City's infrastructure, improve energy efficiency and conservation through rehabilitation or retrofitting of existing buildings, and expand educational opportunities and access to health care. The Administration recommends the acceptance of a CDBG-R grant from HUD in the amount of $2,218,946 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
