HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-09-0247Vop City of Miami Legislation < U R �O Resolution: R-09-0247 File Number: 09-00495 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 5/28/2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW AWARD TO FUND PROJECT 29-115025 UNDER THE SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "PROJECT SEARCH MIAMI," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,200, CONSISTING OF A DONATION FROM CHARLIE DELUCCA, ACCEPTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 18-115, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE PROGRAMS FOR THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED WHICH ARE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI'S DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION THROUGH ITS PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES DIVISION, TO FACILITATE THE HIRING OF A PROJECT SEARCH STUDENT TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE CLASSIFICATION OF WORKER TRAINEE, TO WORK FOR A ONE (1) YEAR PERIOD AT THE CITY OF MIAMI'S RIVERSIDE CENTER BUILDING DURING THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR. WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City's") Department of Parks and Recreation's Program for Persons with Disabilities Division administers the Project SEARCH student job training program for developmentally disabled young adults; and WHEREAS, for decades, Charlie DeLucca has supported the Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center, remains a strong advocate of programs for individuals with disabilities, and has provided a donation in the amount of $14,200, to fund the hiring of a Project SEARCH student to be hired in the classification of "Worker Trainee", to work for one (1) year at the City's Miami Riverside Center Building ("MRC"); and WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the expenditure of said funds for the purpose of hiring a student, a new award under Special Revenue Project 29-115025, needs to be established; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and finding contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by referenced and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A new award to fund Project 29-115025 under the Special Revenue Project entitled: "Project Search Miami," is established and funds in the amount of $14,200, are appropriated from a donation received from Charlie DeLucca, accepted in accordance with Section 18-115, of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, to be administered by the Programs for the Developmentally Disabled which are administered by the City's Department and Recreation through its Program for Persons with Disabilities Division, to facilitate the hiring of a Project SEARCH student to be employed in the classification of "Worker Trainee," to work for a one (1) year period at the City's MRC building during the 2009-2010 school year. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1 } Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar day: the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
