The proposed Resolution is requesting authorization to allot funds to the Law Enforcement
Training Trust Fund (LETTF) from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) for the purpose of
covering expenses associated with the training of police personnel in various areas, including
specialized training ranging from long-term programs such as FBI Academy, Southern Police
Institute (SPI) for executives and Senior Management Institute for Police (SNIP') to short-term
training sessions at the Criminal Justice Institute, etc., to further professional law enforcement
career development. These funds will,pay for applicable training cost such as registration fees,
travel, lodging, books, tuition, etc.
HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUAIJTY OF SERVICE TO THE
CUSTOMER / CITIZENS?
It is in the best interest of the community and the City of Miami to continue to fund these
expenditures through monies generated as a result of seizures authorized under the Florida
Contraband Forfeiture Act.
