HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-09-0213Vop City of Miami Legislation < U R �O Resolution: R-09-0213 File Number: 09-00437 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 5/14/2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE COMPASSION CAPITAL FUND DEMONSTRATION GRANT PROGRAM FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $210,000, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2009, TO THE AGENCIES SPECIFIED IN "ATTACHMENT A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, AND ACCEPTING THE AGENCIES SPECIFIED IN "ATTACHMENT A", AS RECIPIENTS OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR CAPACITY BUILDING ACTIVITIES, FOR A ONE-YEAR PERIOD EFFECTIVE MAY 15, 2009; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT(S), IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), WITH SAID AGENCIES, FOR SAID PURPOSES. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0641, adopted November 9, 2007, the City of Miami ("City") received a $500,000 grant from the Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Grant Program ("CCF Grant") for the purpose of building capacity for non-profit organizations; and WHEREAS, on February 13, 2009, the City issued a Request for Qualification seeking qualified agencies to take part in the capacity building initiative and become recipients of CCF Grant proceeds; and WHEREAS, the Administration has proposed allocation of CCF Grant proceeds to the agencies in "Attachment A", attached and incorporated, to take part in the capacity building initiative; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to execute an Agreement with each agency listed in "Attachment A", in substantially attached form, for said purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission authorizes the allocation of CCF Grant proceeds, from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, in the amount not to exceed $210,000, effective October 1, 2009, to the agencies specified in "Attachment A", attached and incorporated, as recipients of technical assistance awards to provide capacity building activities to faith -based and community organizations, for a one-year period effective May 15, 2009. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute Agreement(s), in substantially the attached form(s). with said agencies, for said purposes. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
