Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. www.gilee.org Highlights: Calendar Year 2008 • Since the establishment of GILEE (in 1992) and ILEE (in 1999), they have carried out 121 programs for 539 law enforcement executives from Austria, Canada, China, Florida, Georgia, Hungary, Indiana, Israel, Japan, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, United Kingdom, Utah, Virginia, Washington, DC, and West Virginia. GILEE and ILEE also provided 27 special briefings, seminars, workshops and conferences on issues related to homeland security and public safety for law enforcement officials from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Holland, Indiana, Israel, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma., Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, United Kingdom, and Utah. • The Israel Police held a reunion to mark GILEE's 16th anniversary. The reunion was part of Israel's 60t' Independence Day celebration events and it was attended by the Israel Police officers who participated in the program since 1992. A special video presentation was produced for this event; English subtitles were added for distribution in the U.S. • In 2008 GILEE and ILEE carried out 15 programs that included: * Seventeen law enforcement executives (agency heads and command staff) from federal, state, and local agencies from Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee, comprised the 16`h delegation to Israel (May). The send-off reception for the 16" delegation was hosted by Cox Enterprises. * Eight chiefs from the Israel Police comprised the 14`h delegation to Georgia. Georgia Power hosted the graduation reception for the delegation. * GILEE received the Georgia Governor's 2008 Public Safety Award (October). * The first delegation of five U.K. law enforcement and government representatives visited Georgia in preparation for the 2012 London Olympic Games. * David Nahmias, the U.S. Attorney for the Northen District of Georgia, was a keynote speaker at the 8th World Summit on Counter Terrorism: "Terrorism's Global Impact," Herzliya, Israel (September). GILEE and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia provided a one -day special briefing to the Georgia law enforcement (Atlanta - September). The briefing provided guidance to decision makers under terror threats (Dr. Boaz Ganor); terrorist behavioral pattern recognition (David Harel); and securing public places (Major General David Tsur). 140 police and homeland security command staff from metro Atlanta attended.
