A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK
WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $1,000,000, FOR THE RENOVATION OF GIBSON PARK LOCATED AT
401 NORTHWEST 12 STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT AND ALL DOCUMENTS
NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, Gibson Park, located at 401 Northwest 12 Street, Miami, Florida, is owned by
the City of Miami ("City") and redevelopment of the park would stimulate active use of the park by
residents as a place to play and exercise in a safe environment; and
WHEREAS, the renovation of Gibson Park includes: (1) a community center and an aquatics
center; (2) sports field improvements; (3) landscape improvements; and (4) park amenities, including a
children's play area, a perimeter walking trail and parking; and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Capital Improvements Program ("CIP") has requested
assistance in funding the renovation of Gibson Park; and
WHEREAS, CIP has agreed to manage the design and construction of the park; and
WHEREAS, on February 23, 2009, the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast
Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency passed Resolution No. 09-0012, authorizing
the award of a grant, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, to the City for renovations to Gibson
Park; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency
authorized the grant to be disbursed on a reimbursement basis or directly to vendors upon
presentation of invoices and satisfactory documentation; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to accept the grant; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 07-0165, adopted March 22, 2007, requires City Commission
approval for any grant award exceeding $25,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. A grant acceptance from the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community

Redevelopment Agency, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, for the renovation of Gibson Park, is
authorized.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the grant agreement and all
documents necessary for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
