Subject: Resolution Authorizing an Amendment to the Concession Agreement with Karlen Foods Inc
Allowing the City's Project Search Program space within the Miami Riverside Center Cafeteria
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the Concession Agreement
for the Miami Riverside Center Cafeteria with Karlen Foods, Inc. (d/b/a Tropics Catering) providing
certain unused space within the cafeteria for the City's Project Search program and activities at the
times designated and area specified in Exhibit "A -I" of said amendment.
Background Information:
The Department of Parks and Recreation recommends that the City Commission approve the attached
resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the concession agreement for the
operations of the Miami Riverside Center cafeteria, with Karlen Foods, Inc. to provide certain unused
space within the cafeteria to be occupied by the City's Project Search program, which provides job
training skills to developmentally challenged young adults, for the purpose of conducting meetings
and other program activities.

Additional Background Information:
The Department of Parks and Recreation through the Division of Programs for Persons
with Disabilities implements Project Search Miami, A unique business —led transition
program for youth with disabilities 18-22 years of age. The cornerstone of the annual
school program is total immersion into local government in the City of Miami
Administration Building (MRC). At the MRC, youths learn employability and job skills
while participating in a variety of worksite rotations. The program is targeted for
individuals whose main goal is employment.
