AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM (CONTINUED)
Subject: Maintenance Agreement for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System and Omnitrak
System
s
Background Information:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 96-627, the Department of Police purchased the Automated Fingerprint
Identification System from Printrak, under a sole source designation. AFIS stores fingerprints in a
computer readable format, which allows for rapid identification. This system also allows the
department to interface with the Miami -Dade County and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's
fingerprint and criminal databases.
Resolution No. 06-0145, adopted on March 9, 2006, authorized the City Manager to execute a
Maintenance and Support Agreement with Printrak, for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System
(AFIS) and Omnitrak Systems, for a two year period commencing March 1, 2006 through February 8,
2008, at an amount not to exceed $32,638, for the first year period and an amount not to exceed
$35,299 for the second year period.
Resolution No. 08-0110, adopted on March 13, 2008, authorized an amendment to this agreement, in
that it decreased the second year cost from $35,299 to $12,816, resulting in a savings of $22,483, and
extended the term of the agreement for a third year commencing March 16, 2008 through May 15,
2009, in an amount not to exceed $9,376.50.
This agreement will ensure continued on-site maintenance and support for the period of May 16, 2009
through May 31, 2012.
