JUSTIFICATION:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission authorizing the City Manager to execute a
maintenance and support agreement with Printrak, a Motorola company, for the Automated
Fingerprinting Identification System (AFIS) and Ommtrak System, which provides for the
continued use of storing fingerprints in a computer readable format for rapid identification that is
invaluable to the police department's investigative process.
HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE
CUSTOMER / CITIZENS?
This system allows the department to interface with the Miami -Dade County and the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement's fingerprint and criminal databases. Maintaining these
services will allow for the proper running of the system to better serve the citizens of Miami.
