Purpose of Item: The Department of Parks and Recreation requires that the City Commission adopt a Resolution approving an amendment to the original Scope of Work in the City's Virginia Key Beach Park project as authorized by Miami -Dade County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond (SNPB) Ordinance 96-115, formalizing the purchase and installation of the carousel ride at the park further directing the City Manager to maintain and operate said project upon completion. Upon adoption of this Resolution, the County will move forward with modifying their Ordinance permitting the City to seek reimbursement for the funds spent towards the carousel ride. Background Information: The original Miami -Dade County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Ordinance No. 96-115 does not include the purchase and installation of the carousel ride as part of the Virginia Key Beach Park project. This addition was approved by Miami -Dade County, which entered into an agreement with the City in August of 2005, to provide SNPB funding to various projects. The Miami -Dade County office of Capital Improvements, which administers the balance of the SNPB program, is now requiring that the City obtain commission approval of such scope changes for reimbursement of project expenses and formally modify the County SNPB Ordinance 96-115, thus approval of this resolution is recommended.
