HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-09-0114Vop City of Miami F .. , 'Ir* Legislation i 0 R �O Resolution: R-09-0114 File Number: 09-00150 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 3/12/2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), RATIFYING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY') AND AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, LOCAL 1907, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED AS EXHIBIT "A," PROVIDING SOME EMPLOYEES WITH EITHER A CITY -ISSUED CELLULAR TELEPHONE OR A CELLULAR TELEPHONE ALLOWANCE WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE AND AT THE DISCRETION OF THE RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR, AND PROVIDING THE CITY WITH THE AUTHORITY TO TERMINATE THE USE OF CITY -ISSUED CELLULAR TELEPHONES OR CELLULAR TELEPHONE ALLOWANCES AT ANYTIME AFTER ISSUANCE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has an operational need for some employees within certain departments to have a cellular telephone in order to improve communications and services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 1907, attached and incorporated as Exhibit "A," is ratified, providing some employees with either a City -issued cellular telephone or a cellular telephone allowance when funds are available and at the discretion of the respective department director, and providing the City with the authority to terminate the use of City -issued cellular telephones and cellular telephone allowances. Section 3. The Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
