Through this program the Parks Department is able to serve approximately 218,000 snacks during the course of a year. Approximately 25 park sites participate in the after school snack program and approximately 1200 kids receive snacks on a daily basis. Many of the children participating in the after school program are from low income families and the USDA and DOH approved snack is a very important part of their health and well being. It is the State of Florida, Department of Health's goal to provide as many children as possible with healthv meals.
