Final Action Date:
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
WAIVER OF PARK RENTAL FEES, IN THE AMOUNT OF $340.89, FOR THE USE
OF VIRRICK PARK, ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2009, FOR THE CASA
VALENTINA VOLUNTEER AND DONOR RECOGNITION BREAKFAST EVENT.
WHEREAS, Casa Valentina is an agency that provides housing and intensive life skills training to
young women who are no longer eligible to receive assistance from the foster care system once they
are the age of eighteen (18); and
WHEREAS, this training is vital for many of these young women who do not have the life
experience skills, financial stability or support necessary to survive on their own; and
WHEREAS, Casa Valentina wishes to increase its visability, make its services known in Coconut
Grove and within the City of Miami, and honor its volunteer and donors with a recognition breakfast in
the gymnasium of Virrick Park on February 26, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Casa Valentina has secured donations to underwrite part of the food expense for the
event; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to waive the park rental fees in order to assist said
organization with the event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The waiver of park rental fees, in the amount of $340.89, for the use of Virrick Park, on
Thursday, February 26, 2009, for the Casa Valentina Volunteer and Donor Recognition Breakfast
event, is authorized.
Section. 3, This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
(1) If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
