JUSTIFICATION:
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement between the
member agencies of the Child Abduction Response Team (CART) and the Florida Department of
Law Enforcement (FDLE), to continue to receive and extend mutual aid in the form of law
enforcement services and resources to adequately respond to continuing, multi jurisdictional
efforts to rescue abducted children and investigate missing/endangered children cases.
HOW IS THIS ITEM GOING TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE TO THE
CUSTOMER / CITIZENS?
There is an existing and continuing possibility for the occurrence of abducted, missing and
endangered children cases which are or are likely to be beyond the control of the services,
personnel, equipment or facilities of the City of Miami Police Department and/or the participating
municipal police departments, along their shared jurisdictional boundaries. In order for the
respective governments to meet their responsibility collectively, they have joined a multi -agency
effort known as Children Abduction Response Team (CART) to ensure public peace and safety
for the children of their communities.
