A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPTA DONATION OF A FOUNTAIN/SCULPTURE ENTITLED
"CAFETERA FOUNTAIN," BY ARTIST CESAR SANTALO AND THE KIWANIS CLUB
OF LITTLE HAVANA, ATAN ESTIMATED FAIR MARKET VALUE OF $100,000, TO
BE PLACED AT DOMINO PLAZA; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, artist Cesar Santalo and the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana want to create a fountain
that speaks of the cultural significance and impact of espresso coffee (Cuban coffee) in Miami; and
WHEREAS, Miami is thirsting for more Art in Public Places, especially art that speaks of our
ethnic diversity and the sculpture is intended to become an important landmark in Miami for locals
and tourists to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, the fountain will be constructed out of concrete covered in broken mosaic tiles and
has an estimated fair market value of $100,000; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana will install and maintain the fountain at no cost to
the City of Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept a donation of a fountain/sculpture entitled
"Cafetera Fountain," by artist Cesar Santalo and the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, at an estimated
fair market value of $100,000, to be placed at Domino Plaza.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized{1 } to execute the necessary documents for
said purpose.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1 } The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
