A Resolution urging the Florida Legislature to designate Southwest 27th Avenue from Southwest
Street to Southwest 13th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Rev. Max Salvador Avenue."
Background Information:
Rev. Max Salvador arrived in Miami in 1961 in search of freedom from the oppressive Castro
Regime. Upon his arrival, he began a congregation at the Church of the Holy Cross and later
established the Centro Episcopal Latino. The Centro was responsible for relocating more than 10,000
families that arrived from Cuba, and also funded the education for over 200 youths. Aside from his
religious undertakings, Rev. Salvador was also a pillar of his community, serving as a board member
for various organizations such as the Rotary Club, Boy Scouts of America, Liga Contra el Cancer, and
Miami Children's Hospital, among many others.
