Castro regime; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Salvador began the Congregation of'Todos Los Santos," at the Church of the
Holy Cross on November 1, 1961, and shortly thereafter, rented an abandoned warehouse which he
transformed into a chapel; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Salvador established the Centro Episcopal Latino next to the chapel which was
responsible for relocating more than 10,000 families arriving from Cuba and provided the means for
more than 200 young people to continue their education; and
WHEREAS, aside from his work with the church, Rev. Salvador exhibited his dedication and
commitment to his community by serving as a board member of various local and national
organizations such as the Rotary Club of Miami, Boy Scouts of America, Liga Contra el Cancer, and
Miami Children's Hospital;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. -rhe Miami City Commission urges the Florida Legislature to co -designate Southwest
27th Avenue from Southwest 8th Street to Southwest 13th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Rev. Max
Salvador Avenue."
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Governor, the
Senate President, the House Speaker, the Chair and Members of the Miami -Dade State Legislative
Delegation, and the Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective Immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1 }
