Subject: Community Space Lease Agreement with Miami -Dade County for the use of 460 NE 2nd Avenue Miami
Florida by the City of Miami Police Department Bike Patrol
Background Information:
The City of Miami Police Department's Bike Patrol Unit has an urgent need for available space to house its
Bike Patrol Unit since they are being required to move from their current location. Miami -Dade County
Housing Agency (the "County") has offered to provide office and storage space for the Bike Patrol Unit at the
County's Harry Cain Towers housing development which will enable this patrol to accommodate
approximately 150 bicycles used for its service functions. The County is generously willing to provide this
space at the nominal fee of $1.00 yearly, no security deposit, along with free utilities (such as electricity, water,
sewer and garbage, with the exception of telephone and internetlwireless charges) in exchange for the increased
police visibility and police presence to be afforded by the Bike Patrol Unit.
Since the Bike Patrol Unit needs to move in as soon as possible, the lease will commence as soon as the lease is
approved by the City Commission.
