A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING AN
INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT AWARDED TO CT FIRE PROTECTION, INC. TO
PERFORM ADDITIONAL SERVICES REQUIRED FOR FIRE SPRINKLER
REPAIRS AND PUMP REPLACEMENT SERVICES AT THE FIRE TRAINING
CENTER, PURSUANT TO BID NO. 66032, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$9,952.80, INCREASING THE TOTAL CONTRACT NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT
FROM $72,500 TO $82,452.80 AND ADDING A 10% OWNER CONTINGENCY TO
THIS TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT; ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR SAID INCREASE,
FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. P=40 -B32807 T=02 A=1105 E=EQUIPMENT
0=181000.
WHEREAS, on February 14, 2008, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 08-0061,
authorizing fire sprinkler system repairs and pump replacement services at the Fire Training Center
from CT Fire Protection, Inc., pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 66032, for the Department of Fire
Rescue, for a total contract amount not to exceed $72,500; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Rescue Department has determined that additional work, beyond the
original scope of work, is now required; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a backflow preventer device is needed to prevent
contaminated water from mixing with the domestic water supply; and
WHEREAS, the replacement of faulty standpipe shut-off valves on the stairway riser are also
required to ensure that water will flow as needed if a fire arises; and
WHEREAS, an increase to the contract award amount is necessary to cover the above described
additional work crucial to avoid any potential life, hazardous, and safety issues;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA;
Section 1. An increase in the contract, with CT Fire Equipment, for fire sprinkler system repairs
and pump replacement services, in an amount not to exceed $9,952.80, increasing the total contract
not to exceed amount from $72,500 to $82,452.80 and adding a 10% owner contingency to this total
contract amount, is authorized; funds for said increase(s) are allocated from Account Code No. P=40
-832807 T=02 A=1105 E=Equipment 0=181000.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption and signature of the
Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
