Subject: Interlocal Agreement b/w the Citgo f Miami and the .City of Coral Springs for
Disaster Recovery Sites
Purpose of Item:
The purpose of this interlocal agreement with Coral Springs is to provide at a minimum cost a mutual
support Disaster Recovery Site in order to benefit the respective citizenry of Miami and Coral
Springs. The establishment of a backup recovery infrastructure at the proposed Coral Springs site
would allow the City to enhance its disaster recovery preparedness by establishing a secondary,
hardened recovery facility, reduce recovery time associated with Information Technology I n f ra s tr c ture
from days to hours, and cost effectively leverage existing Information Technology
development/staging infrastructure to establish a secondary operational site without incurring costs
associated with a similar commercial site.
Background Information:
We paid Sungard $124,922.00 for the period of 4/2008-5-2009. The amount budgeted for FY 2009 is
equal to $108,000 versus the estimated cost of using Coral Springs at $20,000, thus rendering
potential savings of $88,000 when fully implemented. The proposed interlocal agreement would
result in a savings of $20,000.00 the first year as we phase out Sungard's services (this is dependent
on getting off the mainframe) by moving equipment from the Sungard location to Coral Springs as
soon aspossible. The City will realize a savings of approximately $100,000.00 in the fourth year of
the proposed interlocal agreement with Coral Springs.
