Dear Mr. Grassie:
As per my telephone conversation this morning with Mrs.
Luisa Calderin of the Little Havana Community Center, may this
letter serve as a formal request to include MDA in the agenda
for your next City Commission meeting.
It is our understanding that the Commission is the only
body with the proper authority to grant us a waiver of the rental
fee at the Center. Pending your final approval, the Center has
been tentatively reserved for a fund raising event for Sunday,
November 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. to hold "Tarde de Estrellas."
This event will consist of a variety show of Latin stars who
will donate their time and services for the benefit of "Jerry's
kids". We plan to have an admission charge which will be our
only source of income on this event. For your information, the
tickets will be a donation and, therefore, tax deductible.
We certainly appreciate whatever can be done to help us in
the fight against neuromuscular diseases. It is through the
efforts of people like you that we work to bring hope and a cure
to those afflicted with muscular dystrophy.

P.S. Enclosed please find our 1977 Annual Report to inform you
on the programs and services of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association. ) 1
