WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8716 on
October 26, 1977, establishing resources and appropriations for
the implementation of capital improvements in the City of Miami,
Florida, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8734 on
January 11, 1978, and Ordinance No. 8745 on January 24, 1978, and
Ordinance No. 8772 on March 9, 197e, amending Section 1 of
Ordinance No. 8716; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 78-414 on
June 13, 1978, confirming the Coconut Grove Business Area Decorative
Pedestrian -Scale Street Lighting Project; and
WHEREAS, The City will be responsible for funding the cost of;
engineering and design services, materials and installation of the
lighting system, supervision of construction, and other costs
incidental to the project; and
WHEREAS, in order to finance this project, new funds are
needed from the Highway General Obligation Bond Fund at an
estimated maximum cost of $110,000 and
WHEREAS, bids will be received on July 26, 1978 for this
project; and
WHEREAS, an amount of $110,000 is available in the 1970
Highway General Obligation Bond Fund and can be appropriated for
the above. -mentioned purpose;

remaining provisions of this ordnance shall not be affected.

ORDINANCE
ENCLOSURES:
On July 26, 1978, bids were received for the Coconut Grove Business
Area Decorative Pedestrian -Scale Street Lighting Project, The
construction cost had been estimated at $93,000 and the cost for
incidentals and engineering at $12,000. The lowest acceptable bid
received was for $97,473.85. When incidentals and engineering are added,
an amount of $110,000 is needed in order for the City to award the
bid for this project. Award of bid is planned for September 1978,
after bids are received for the 2nd bidding of the Coconut Grove
Highway Improvement.
On July 13, 1978, an ordinance was passed on first reading, "Amending
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8716, The Annual Capital Improvement
Appropriations Ordinance by establishing a new project for Coconut
Grove Business Area Decorative Pedestrian -Scale Street LightinK;
making adjustments in the 1970 Highway General Obligation Bond Fund."
This first reading was for a total amount of $105,000. Since $110,000
is needed, we are requesting that the second reading of the ordinance
be accomplished as amended to show the total amount allocated for the
project as $110,000.
