It is respectfully requested that a Resolution be adopted extending Mr. James' employment from July 3, 1978 to July 3, 1979. Krause Executive Secretary Civil Service Board CltY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA 1N'1`•ti ,orPiCE MEMORANDUM DATE August 15, 1978 FILE SUBJECT Civil Service Board Action on Request for Extension of Employment for Olden James, Waste Collector, Department I:Err REr,CES of Solid Waste, from July 3, 1978 to July 3, 1979 ENCLOSURES At its meeting of August 15, 1978, the Civil Service Board considered the request of Olden James, Waste Collector, Department of Solid Waste, for an extension of his employment for a period of one (1) year, to be effective July 3, 1978 to July 3, 1979. The Board noted that Clarance Patterson, Director of the Department of Solid Waste, has recommended approval of this request and that Dr. L. A. Toto, City Physician, has found Mr. James to be physically qualified to continue employment for the additional year. The Board voted to approve the request, with the provision that in the event of a rollback or layoff, Mr. James, rather than a junior employee, would be affected, noting that this is in accordance with past policy. ENCLOSURES: Mr. Olden James, Waste Collector, attained age seventy (70) on July 3, 1978. Although he is not a member of the Pension Plan, the Civil Service Board voted to have him qualify for employment beyond age seventy (70). He was examined on August 17, 1978, and Doctor Toto qualified him for his present duties as described by Mr. Duane Gray, Assistant Superintendent of Waste Collection. I therefore request that he be approved for employment beyond age seventy (70). c.c.
